20 Easy Healthy Habits That Will Change Your Life In 2015

Being healthy and happy doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. The only thing you have to do is make small changes to your daily routine and keep doing them overtime. In a matter of days these healthy routines will become second nature and will start to change your life and health.

Eating healthy food, relaxation, and regular exercise are the 3 key players that affect our health. The changes don’t have to be huge and all at once. Even the smallest changes can have a big difference on your health and happiness.

Here are my top 20 healthy habits to control weight, boost energy, improve mood, combat diseases and improve longevity.

1.    Daily Detox: Lukewarm Lemon Water In The Morning

Due to our modern lifestyle our body has to handle more toxic waste materials, which overloads kidneys and liver. Drinking lukewarm lemon water in the morning kick starts digestions and helps to finalize your body’s detoxification processes.

2.    Eat More Fruits And Veggies

People who eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day have a lower risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

3.    Use Foods, Not Supplements

Supplements, even if they come from plants, are processed and often contain compounds linked to toxicity and increased risk of many life threating diseases. If you eat a whole food diet with tons of fruits and vegetables there will be no need to take extra supplements.

4.    Eat Breakfast

Many people tend to skip breakfast because they are in a hurry. Studies have shown that having breakfast is super important to energize your body, reduce hunger throughout the rest of the day, maintain and lose weight, and prevent overeating or poor food choices.

5.       Eat Smaller Portion, More Often

When we go longer than 3 hours without food our energy levels drop and levels of cortisol go up. Cortisol is a hormone that gives our body a signal to store fat in the abdominal regions. So eating smaller healthy meals more often keeps your energy levels up and cortisol levels and cravings low.

6.    Avoid Refined, Processed Foods and Sugar

This is actually a no brainer. We all know that processed food is packed with harmful chemicals and sugar that can lead to a wide range of health issues.

7.    Drink More Water

Swap (diet) sodas or other sugary drinks for water, herbals teas, or water-infused drinks (click here to get my 10 favorite flat tummy water recipes). Drink before you are thirsty, thirst is a sign of dehydration.

8.    Cook Most Foods At Home

Cooking your own food means you are in control of what goes in it and how big the portions are.

9.    Chew Each Mouthful 20-30 Times

People who chew each mouthful 20-30 times have less digestive issues, eat less calories, and are able to absorb the maximum amount of nutrients out of their food.

10. Get Your Body Moving

Experts recommend a 30 minute workout five days a week. No need to spend hours in the gym, there are many ways to get your body moving during the day. Click here for some inspiration.

11. Get Your Beauty Sleep

Your body needs sleep to distress and reset. According to the findings of Dr. Timothy Morgenthaler, people who sleep 7 to 8 hours live longer.

12. Do Not Smoke Cigarettes Or Quit If You Smoke

If you are a smoker, now may be the time to quit. Smoking takes around 10 years of your life, but did you know that quitting before the age of the 35 can almost entirely reverse the risk?

13. Get Outside

More and more studies are showing the importance of nature. People who spend more time in a green space have fewer anxiety disorders, are less likely to get depressed, and don’t get sick very often.

14. Spend Time With Family And Friends

Love and friendship makes the world a little less grey and depressing. According to multiple studies, people with a strong social life are much healthier and happier. It lowers stress, prevents migraines, boost happiness, improves immunity, and so much more good things come from having a strong and loving social network around you.
