If your skin is feeling dehydrated, tired or dry or if you are having problems with acne, blemishes or wrinkles, you might want to consider an at-home treatment with one of these egg yolk-based facials before booking your next appointment at the spa. These recipes can be made in a matter of minutes and you will see a difference in your skin immediately. This is because egg yolk is a wonderful skin treatment, rich in protein, Vitamins A and B, zinc and healthy fats which nourish your skin the same way they nourish the rest of your body. And while they are inexpensive treatments to indulge in, the results for your face will be positively luxurious.

Egg-Avocado Face Mask

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp. yogurt

Mask and blend the avocado until smooth, then add all the ingredient and continue to blend in a bowl until you have a smooth paste. Apply the mask to your fingertips using gentle, circular motions and let it set for 15 minutes before rising and drying as normal. Avocado will moisturize the skin due to being rich in fats and oils as well as Vitamin E and will leave your face feeling smooth and supple. The yogurt will also moisturize while killing off the bacteria that cause acne.

Almond Oil-Honey Face Mask

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. almond oil

In small mixing bowl, add all three ingredients and whisk the mixture until it becomes frothy. Apply gently to your skin and allow to set for 15 minutes, trying to keep your face still during this time. Afterwards, rinse and pat dry with a towel. This is one of the best treatments you can do if you are having problems with acne breakouts, as the almond oil will treat this as well as dry, flaky skin; the honey has antimicrobial properties that will reduce pimples and swellings and moisturizes the skin.

Banana-Olive Oil Face Mask

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 ripe banana

In a mixing bowl, mash banana with a fork, then blend in the olive oil and egg yolk and keep mixing until the paste is smooth. Apply to your face with your fingertips, allow it to set for 15 minutes, then rinse and pat dry. This is a wonderful treatment for skin that is aging or has premature wrinkles. The olive oil will lock moisture into your skin and nourish your skin cells. The banana, which is a good source of Vitamin E, will help slow the effects of aging and its antioxidant properties will reduce the free radical damage which is the cause of wrinkles.

So, whether your problem is wrinkles, acne or simply skin that is dry, flaky or damaged, the simple recipes for the masks above will equip you with what you need for soft, hydrated and nourished skin.
