Recipes for Herb-Infused Cleaning Products

  • Counter Spray

This is the perfect cleaning product for your kitchen, utility room and bathroom.  It works to disinfect, freshen the air, and clean.

Ingredients:
One half cup distilled white vinegar
One half cup water
12 drops of your choice of essential oils

Directions:
Simply mix all of the ingredients in a small jar and pour into a spray bottle to use.

  • Pot Scrubber

This is a gentle scrub that will not scratch your cookware, and will also help clean porcelain sinks and tubs.  Use lemon or spearmint essential oil to give your bathroom and kitchen a nice, clean scent!

Ingredients:
One cup baking soda
One and a half tablespoons of liquid castile soap
10 drops of your choice of essential oils

Just as much water as needed to thicken into a paste

Directions:
Combine the baking soda and soap,.  Next, add enough water to form a paste that is still pourable. Stir in your essential oil and then apply to surface you wish to clean. Let it sit for 5 minutes or and then scrub with a sponge.  Rinse.

  • Antibacterial Bathroom Cleaner

This is another spray that works to disinfect surfaces and is perfect for fighting bacteria in the bathroom.  Tea tree oil is antibacterial and have anti-fungal powers, too. It is perfect for getting rid of and controlling mildew.

The essential oils used here, lavender and hyssop, have long been used as disinfectants as they have antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Ingredients:
A half cup of distilled vinegar
One and a half cups of water
Two tablespoons of liquid castile soap
10 drops of tea tree essential oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil
10 drops of hyssop essential oil

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and pour into a spray bottle. Spray onto bathroom areas. If residue is left you can simply rinse it off with water or wipe away with a cloth.

  • Carpet Cleaner and Deodorizer

This works well on bad smells and even stains.  It helps break up dirt and has a wonderful scent.  It is perfect for homes with pets!

Ingredients:
1 and 1/2 cups of baking soda
12 drops of grapefruit essential oil
12 drops of ginger essential oil

Directions:
Combine all of these ingredients together and then sprinkle onto carpets. Let set on your carpets for 15 minutes.  Vacuum.

Herbal Cleaning Tips

Remember to store any excess cleaning product in a dark jar. This will keep it potent longer.  The ingredients can break down a plastic bottle. Also, remember to keep out of the reach of pets and children. While the ingredients are safe to breathe, they should not be ingested.
