Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed by life’s stresses and obstacles? It is not so rare that we find ourselves feeling down or in need of a break. Sometimes we don’t even have the strength to go on and fight anymore. At such times, even the simplest help can raise our spirits and get us back on our feet again.

Aromatherapy is the science of using essential oils to help relieve stress and relax. It may sound too simple to you, but how effective and efficient it is will surprise you. Furthermore, there are plenty of available essential oils that possess beautiful, fragrant scents that can soothe away any worries or stresses. Lavender, Chamomile, Wild Orange and Lemon oils all contain therapeutic properties to relieve anxiety, stress, and worry.

If you wish to know how you can enhance your relaxation experience and relieve anxiety easily using essential oils, read on.

Technique #1: A Relaxing Massage

A relaxing massage is the most common form of aromatherapy yet it is the most efficient. You will only need a carrier oil plus your favorite essential oil to be good to go. Add about 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice and blend it carefully with a couple of ounces of jojoba oil, grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil.

The last three are all examples of good carrier oils with therapeutic benefits of their own. You may want to use more than one essential oil so make your own favorite blend in a separate bottle for easy access later.

Technique #2: Diffusion

An ideal way of relieving anxiety would be using your diffuser. By adding a few drops in your diffuser, you can enjoy a beautiful scent whenever you need it throughout the day. For a better night’s sleep, diffuse in the tranquility of your bedroom before you turn in or spray a few drops on your pillow for a calming night and sweet dreams.

Technique #3: Inhalation

Inhalation is the simplest method of aromatherapy. All you have to do is to take a deep breath and inhale the fragrance of your favorite essential oil; it couldn’t be easier. To effectively do this, take 3 to 4 drops of your oil and rub them in your hands thoroughly then cup them over your nose and take a few deep breaths.

Enjoy as the feelings of depression and anxiety melt away. For easy access throughout your day, take a small bottle of your favorite oil blend wherever you go.

Technique #4: A Fragrant Bath

A superbly effective way of relieving anxiety and a perfect reward for yourself after a long, stressful day. Make a habit out of this and you will notice a positive change in your everyday attitude as your mind becomes more relaxed and clearer. Simply add 5 to 10 drops of your essential oil to your bath.

Keep in mind that essential oils are volatile substances. Thus, don’t add them to running water as this can increase their evaporation rate. Instead, wait until your bath is ready and add the mentioned amount of oil, using your hands to blend it in carefully. For extra moisturizing effect, add a few drops of a carrier oil.

Technique #5: Add A Fragrant Touch To Everything Around You

If you don’t want to limit yourself to the previous ways, surround yourself with the aromatic bliss of essential oils by adding them to everything around you. For example, leaving a cotton ball with a few drops of essential oil on it in your closet will leave your clothes smelling refreshing always.

Likewise, leave a scented cotton ball in your car or your vacuum cleaner for the fragrance to spread in your home and your vehicle. If you want personal access to the soothing scent, add a few drops to your hand lotion.

Essential oils have numerous benefits and their ability to relieve feelings of stress and depression is of the most effective. If you want an easy and quick way to calm your mind whenever you need it, it is needless to say that this is the perfect solution for you.
