Newest findings say there is the possibility that Alzheimer’s could be caused by the Herpes simplex virus. We have known for the past few years that a virus may be the reason that Alzheimer’s gets started and why it has become so prevalent in USA.

Imagine , you have a cold sore, a herpes blister and that could later be the start of dementia! This virus infection raises the concentration of amyloid precursor protein, a protein that is found in high concentrations in the brains of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.

The herpes virus has already been proven to cause encephalitis (brain inflammation), meningitis (spinal inflammation) and Bell’s Palsy (stroke with paralysis). So this virus, causing these afflictions is scary, viruses like these live in our bodies especially when you have already been exposed to a herpes infection. It becomes worse when the virus grows larger in number and invades the nerves and brain tissue.

Diseases Related to Alzheimer’s

Other tests have found Diabetics have a 65% higher risk of Alzheimer’s, a study at Northwest University in Chicago, suggests Alzheimer’s is a form of diabetes in the brain and it causes fewer insulin receptors.

People who have long periods of untreated depression, with reduced levels of serotonin, increases the risk of Alzheimer’s.

If you have heart disease and have high homocysteine levels, a sign of inflammation, you double the risk of Alzheimer’s.

There are experiments in making something to help with the growing plaque in the brain with a new “nose spray” that can eat away the plaque!

Preventative Suggestions

Drugs for some help slow the disease progression. Other recommendations to slow and decrease your risk are using your brain by learning new subjects: like languages and puzzles to keep your memory sharp.

Plants and vegetables give better protection due to high anti-oxidant vitamins and polyphenol compounds that can repair damage to the brain and body. Another study at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, found that those taking extra Vitamin C and E were 64 % less likely to develop Alzheimer’s.
