Let’s find out……..

Well, it’s definitely a FACT. (Intrigued?? Keep reading for more in-depth explanation and guidance!!!)

So, here goes…..

Did you know… the nasal tissue produces 1.5 quarts of mucus daily, non-stop, around the clock, and this nasal mucus travel down back to the throat, and provide dampness to the nostrils, and nasal passages that helps it from getting excessively dry when the dry air is inhaled via nostrils?

If you want to know about your current health status, then I suggest you to peek into your hanky or tissue paper after blowing up your nose. As the color of your mucus might provide you with some perfect health guidance.

Kiran’s Watch out List for Mucus Observation:

So, here goes:

Let’s start our observation by the following mucus colors:

Black:

Usually the black mucus is associated with smokers, and someone who has compromised immune system. So, I would advise that person to go in a check-up with your physician to find out whether you are suffering from any fungal infections.

Red/Pink:

Such colors indicate that the subject has blood in his/her mucus. This red/pink color can also be due to nasal tissues dryness, or any irritation or damage caused to the nasal passages or tissues.

Brown:

Brown mucus merely signifies inhalation of dirt or the like. Which is providing the brown shade to it.

Green:

Green mucus is a sign of poor immunity. The green color is due to dead immune cells. If this mucus color remains for more than 15 days, along with nausea or fever then I would suggest you to get a check-up with your health care practitioner as it might be due to sinusitis.

Yellow:

Yellow color reveals a tight hold of infection. As your WBC-white blood cells are actively involved in attacking the microbial infection. The tint of yellow is the resultant of attack of WBC on the cold causing microbial organism. If this yellow hue persists for more than 15 days then I would suggest you to pay a visit to your physician for possibility of bacterial infection.

White:

The color white can be due to infection, cold or congestion. Usually the nasal passage become swollen, blocked or inflamed that can dry-up the mucus in your nasal passage, and might lead to total disruption of normal mucus flow. Which might take shape of a cloudy or thick blob. If you experience this be watchful!

Finally, the last one is……

Clear:

This is the ideal color for mucus as it normal, watery mixture of dissolved salt, antibodies, and some proteins.
