Fructose Feeds Cancer More Than Other Sugars

Fructose may actually do more to promote and proliferate the growth of cancer cells than any other form of sugar.  Fructose is the form of sugar commonly known to be in fruit, but it’s most heavily consumed in the form of various high fructose corn syrups used in many processed foods and most sodas.  Glucose, on the other hand, derives from carbohydrates in pasta, rice, and other grains.

A study conducted at UCLA found that cancer cells used fructose to multiply more rapidly than they did with glucose.

According to the study author, Anthony Heaney of UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, “These findings show that cancer cells can readily metabolize fructose to increase proliferation.”

Based in this research, anyone with or predisposed to cancer should be mindful avoid any products containing fructose, and opt instead for alternatives like natural sugar cane, stevia, or xylitol.
