GMO Labeling – Facts you Need to Know

Let me start by looking at the history of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).  They were first allowed into the food supply in 1996.  That’s less than 20-years ago.  The average amount of time to test negative or adverse affects of a drug is 10 to 15 years.  However, no tests have been done yet.

So the biggest problem is that we don’t know the long term outcome of genetically modified food.  The logical question is…how could anyone argue against labeling if companies have nothing to hide from the individuals consuming them.

I believe there’s something that seems sneaky about people manufacturing, engineering and processing food and then when it’s done, they don’t want to tell any of us what’s actually in it.  Why?  What are they hiding?  What don’t they want us to know?

Look at clothing.  Manufacturers are required to list the contents of what we wear.  If your jeans are made of 100% cotton, or 80% cotton with 20% polyester, either way, you will know what’s in the clothes you wear.  Yet, they won’t tell us what’s in the food we eat?

As Americans, over the years we have created government entities to safeguard our well-being.  We have the FDA, USDA and EPA as three examples.  Yet, why are these entities not wanting to inform us of what is in our food?  Is it because they are infiltrated with former executives from the biotech world?

Over 30 other countries around the world have said no to GMOs.  I have always believed that we (as Americans) live in the land of the free where information should be shared and we should be educated on what we are eating.  Instead there is a blatant withholding of information.  In fact, I have heard companies make statements like this, “If people know that there are GMOs in their food they won’t buy it.”  Withholding of key information is directly impacting our health.

What’s scary is that other countries in the world are saying they will not allow GMOs until more research is done.  Yet in the U.S. the policy is to continue to feed Americans the food until what…millions of people die?  Then what?  With the “Monsanto Act” (as it was nicknamed), you have virtually no recourse.

The HR933 bill, dubbed the Monsanto Act by many, was signed into motion on March 26, 2013 and it allows biotech companies, like Monsanto, to bypass federal approval tests and plant their GMO crops despite well known health risks.  This provision frees biotech companies from their liability to the people and from judicial accountability. Think GMOs aren’t a problem?

  • GMOs are now present in 75 to 80% of conventional processed food in the U.S. (according to the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
  • 58% of Americans are unfamiliar with the issue of GMOs in food (according to a 2006 Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology study).

Not yet enraged?  You should be.  Obviously these companies have something to hide.

What can you do?  Educate yourself then educate others.  Watch video blog clips like this one on NaturalNews.TV CLICK HERE and spread the word.  If you want to take a bigger step and make a bigger impact, support documentaries that are designed specifically to educate.  You can go to www.SupportBoughtMovie.com to see my latest project and learn more about why I’m so passionate about this topic.  I want more people to tell the companies to, “Stop messing with my family’s health.  Go back to real food, conventional farming without GMOs and put people first, not profits.”  Let’s come together to make a difference and take a stand!
