Healing Elixir For Smokers: How To Cleanse Your Lungs

image

Most people know what is meant by a “smoker’s cough”, that loose, phlegmy, persistent cough which a person gets when they have been smoking for a long time. It is a warning from the body that the cigarette smoke being inhaled on a daily basis is an irritant to the delicate lining of the mouth, throat, bronchioles and lungs. This constant irritation — along with the horribly addictive and toxic additives that cigarette companies add to their deadly products – that can eventually lead to cancer.

However, even if someone is smoking daily or in the process or trying to quit by cutting down gradually on their cigarettes, there are some ways to stay healthy. Some of those ways – along with a recipe for a lung-cleansing tonic – are discussed below.

Staying Healthy as a Smoker

Quite bluntly, smoking is one of the unhealthiest habits that someone can pick up and is responsible, according to the American Lung Association, for approximately 90% of all cases of lung cancer. However, if someone continues to smoke or is cutting down slowly in order to quit, there are a few lifestyle choices that can be made to somewhat minimize the damage. This can include:

Daily consumption of members of the allium family, such as onions, garlic and leeks, whose strong antioxidant properties can help to minimize the damage that the tobacco smoke is doing to the cells of the respiratory tract.Increase the amount of ginger and turmeric in the diet; these two spices are amazingly powerful antioxidant, but their anti-inflammatory properties can also help to reduce irritation done to the respiratory system through smoking.Exercise regularly and do deep breathing exercising to keep lungs in as good a shape as possible. The breathing exercises, for instance, that are associated with yoga routines are a good way to help clear and cleanse the lungs.

Elixir Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 1 kilogram onions
  • 1 liter water
  • 400 grams brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 small ginger root, peeled

Directions

Mix the sugar and water together in a saucepan and stir well to blend. Add onions, ginger and turmeric. Bring water to boiling, then reduce heat and simmer until liquid is reduced by about half. Strain mixture, pour into glass jar with air-tight lid and refrigerate.

Dosage

Take two tablespoons in the morning before breakfast and two tablespoons in the evening before dinner.

To repeat, this is not as effective as quitting the smoking habit, which can still be doing damage to the lungs with every cigarette that’s lighted. However, this elixir, due to the strong antioxidant properties of both the ginger and turmeric, can at least help to repair some of that damage and keep the lungs more cleansed.
