The CDC issued a new warning this week about Lumber Liquidator’s China-made laminate flooring that has been proven to contain extremely high levels of formaldehyde. The laminate flooring that was tested by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) was made in China between 2012 and 2014, then sold to consumers by Lumber Liquidators.

Lumber Liquidators Laminate Flooring from China Contains Cancer Causing Levels of Formaldehyde

The CDC reports that people who purchased and installed these versions of laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators are three times more likely to develop cancer. The CDC further states that the store’s laminate flooring made in China can cause from two to nine cases of cancer per 100,000 people who are exposed to it.

In addition to the higher risk of developing cancer, people who are exposed to this flooring are more susceptible to chronic respiratory issues like asthma and eye, ear and throat problems.

This new revelation has sent Lumber Liquidators stock plummeting and has rattled customers who are legitimately concerned about their exposure to this product in their homes. The first indication of this issue was revealed to the public in March 2015 when the CBS News program, 60 Minutes reported on their investigation into the China produced laminate flooring.

After the airing of the 60 Minutes investigation, Lumber Liquidators stopped their sales of this type of flooring in March 2015. They also offered customers free air quality testing in their homes where the flooring had been installed.

What Can You Do If You Installed Lumber Liquidators Laminate Flooring in Your Home?

After concluding their testing, the CDC has issued a strong health warning to those who installed the laminate flooring in their homes during the times it was sold. Some concerned consumers have already requested air quality testing from Lumber Liquidators. You can find the CDC’s current laminate flooring testing and health safety suggestions regarding Lumber Liquidators online.
