Anyone who has ever had a kidney stone knows that it is an extremely painful condition, especially while the stone is caught in the ureters, the tubes which lead from the kidneys to the bladder. Even once in the bladder, the stone must this be passed through the urethra. Men, having a longer urethra, have a much more difficult time with this and medical professionals have often dubbed this process “male childbirth”. That is why a recipe like the one below, which can help naturally dissolve stones before they can cause so many problems, is such a good one to know about.

What Exactly are Kidney Stones?

Kidney stones are deposits of minerals – usually some form of calcium like calcium oxalate – that collect in the kidneys and can form small, pebble-like “stones” within the kidneys themselves. Positioning is everything when it comes to kidney stones: a stone can stay in the kidney for weeks, months or even years without a person having any symptoms. However, if the stone becomes lodged at any point in the ureter, extreme back or flank pain and bloody or cloudy urine can result.

At this point, a doctors will try to have a patient pass the stone naturally through pushing fluids and by given them strong analgesics to keep the pain under tolerable control. However, some stones are large enough that they require surgery to remove. The third option is to combine pushing fluids with the use of remedy like the one given below to dissolve the stone so that it is easier to eliminate naturally.

Kidney Stone Remedy Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 9 ounces extra virgin olive oil
  • 9 ounces lemon (with peel)
  • 9 ounces parsley root
  • 9 ounces raw organic honey

Directions

Scrub the lemon and cut into pieces with the peel still on, then put it in a blender and process. Next, clean and scrape the parsley root, cut it into chunks, add to blender and process in with the lemon. Then add the maple syrup, honey and olive oil and process once more until you get a smooth, well-blended mixture. You can store this is an airtight glass bottle in the refrigerator.

How to Use

Take one tablespoon of this every morning one an empty stomach, then be sure to drink a lot of fluids for the rest of the day.

How Does This Remedy Work?

The main active ingredient here is the lemon; consumption of this fruit is excellent for kidney stone therapy, since it raises the acidity of your urine and dissolves the calcium-based kidney stone naturally. The parsley, too, is also important, as it is a natural diuretic to help you increase urine output and flush the kidneys naturally. The honey is important, too, as it can be soothing to the irritated linings of your ureters and also provides powerful antibiotic protection for them, while the maple syrup makes the remedy palatable.

So if you do have problems with kidney stones, consider using this home remedy to dissolve all or part of the stone naturally and make it easier to pass. It tastes delicious because of the honey and maple syrup and is really effective at treating this painful condition, making it easier to cope with.

But does it work on uric acid kidney stones?

    • Carol Beall

No I have had several. Lots of uric acid crystals in urine. Need to go basic to neutralize acid. Acidic lemon juice would only make worse. First, lots of water to dilute. Then food and drink to neutralize. Need to eat similar to diet for gout.

question will this slowly eat away at the stone until it's comfortable enough to be passed or will it begin a process of elimination regardless of the size of the stone(s)?

I do have stones in my kidneys which I have passed without difficulty. I wonder if drinking this stuff will reduce the size of them?

How about gal stones? Will this work for them?

  • monte

I have dealt with kidney stones for over twenty years and the past nine years they have increased a great deal. My stones are calcium oxilate stones and in 2001 I had me gal bladder removed becuase it was full of stones. A little over a year ago I had surgery to remove one of my para-thyroid glands, because I was passing a stone every five days. I have been to many different doctors and tried every method out there to desolve the stones. I haven't found anything that works. Now in the past six months the stones have come back and not only do I have calcium oxilate stones, I also have uric acid stones. Believe me diets don't work, home remities, don't work, it is just the way your body is made up.

something is wrong. if your body keeps doing the same thing, even after the stones are removed. you really need to get to a good naturopathic doctor, who can help you to assess your lifestyle and work on this problem. You have to change not just portions of the diet, you need to take a look at your entire lifestyle and see what has been contributing to these stones. something as simple as drinking enough water can help alleviate many illnesses. I'm not saying that is what your problem is, but it sounds like they are just treating your symptoms and not really coming to the root of the issues.

Yes, lifestyle changes are of the utmost importance. Cutting out red meat, dairy products, & white flower will dramatically help. Alcohol & smoking is also out! I once heard a doctor who removed kidney stones on a patient say " Cut out cheeseburgers and you'll take care of 99% of your problem. Thnx.

HEADS UP READERS and NaturalNews….I asked my friend who has suffered from chronic kidney stones for well over 10 years, here is her experience that this method does NOT work, she said:

" No. Lemon doesn't dissolve kidney stones. It is a diuretic and flushes them out but it does not dissolve them. Same wirh parsley root. The honey may actually contribute to larger stones if they are calcium oxide.

The maple syrup doesn't do anything but actually may contribute to larger stones as well.

Nothing that I have found has actually dissolved kidney stones but I have found things that either break them up or changes the composition of the stones to a gel. Chanca Piedra herb from the Amazon rainforest (translates to " break stone " ) will break up stones smaller so they can pass. I drink it every day for maintenance and it works. Marshmallow root softens the stones into a gel so they pass with less pain. I have seen stones come out this way. I do put lemon essential oil in my tea if I'm passing a stone to make it come out faster."

Also from an earlier comment, Kidney stones and Gallbladder stones are different. I will say in the past I've had stones develop in my saliva gland — the only relief recommended by my Dr was to suck lemon candy…or have the gland permanently cut out. I eventually got it out on my own, the last part I put my fingers into my mouth and massaged it out, it was huge, it had been painful, but I finally got that out on my own. I now always drink water with lemon juice in it and I have not had another saliva gland stone in 25+ yrs.

I've dissolved kidney stones using lemon juice in water. The parsley is a diruetic. The maple syrup is just to make it taste better.

For Pete sake just drink raw beet juice add lemon if you like t o help with tase or natural cranberry juice for taste, but the beets have worked on friends of mine in the past when nothing else would.

    • Chelly

BE CAREFUL with raw beet juice! Many people have a sensitivity to it. I found out the hard way. My beet/carrot mix was very sweet…too sweet, but, meh…then it started. An itching in the throat, which turned into a burning. It was like I'd swallowed battery acid. I quickly looked up raw beet and throat burning, and sure enough….

Good recipe..for kidney stones..i have heard even the herb Guggulu works good for kidney stones.Has anybody tried it?

  • Tim

I had 2 stones… one a quarter inch in diameter, the other a half inch in diameter… I 1500 mg of Magnesium and 600 mg of B-6 twice a day for 3 months and had another x-ray done… the quarter inch was gone, and the half inch was half the size…. I firmly believe the supplements dissolved the stones… I also was drinking lemon water and lemonaid to help and get fluids in me because the magnesium will draw lots of water into your intestines.

Lemons alkalize the body (acidic bodies leach calcium from bone, thereby saturating the blood with calcium that then gets deposited in the kidneys). The citric acid in lemons coat the calcium in your kidneys and stop it from clumping into stones. I have an ongoing issue with kidney stones, they've nearly taken my life twice. However, since I started squeezing a lemon or two into some water with sweetener every morning (or later if I forget, but it's best on empty stomach), I haven't had a single issue.

I used to have kidney stones very often. I started drinking about 16 ounces of apple cider (NOT apple juice and NOT apple cider vinegar, just plain apple cider) on a daily basis and I haven't had a kidney stone since. It has been 4 years now. I also have a brother that drinks the apple cider every day and no more stones for him either.

Just had 2 stones removed from same kidney this past weekend. Both 9mm. I have had stones for 20 years. Found nothing to stop them.
