The Rise of Disease in China

The rise of disease in China is just beginning, as the country and its citizens are being sold for the interests of private businesses. The pharmaceutical industry and medical doctors of China have conspired together to create profits at the expense of the health of Chinese citizens. Doctors are prescribing more and more drugs, fueled by the incentives and monetary rewards handed out by drug companies and their representatives.Their ability to do this in the United States and other westernized countries is the model for how they will now do this again in China.

The recent accusal of the head of GlaxoSmithKline’s China operations in a “massive bribery” scheme underscores the international view of China as a field of human harvest for company profits around the world. Following similar successful policies in the United States, GlaxoSmithKline has been charging Chinese citizens as much as 7 times the actual costs of the drugs. These costs will only increase even further.

Once considered to be one of the leanest populations in the World, the Chinese are being fattened like cattle with antibiotic use that is over 10 times that of the United States. The use of antibiotics under any circumstance brings with it a long list of diseases and side effects. At any level, they are unsafe and their use must be weighed against a long list of risks that include cancers and death. As antibiotic use leads to more diseases and conditions, prescription rates will also increase. It’s a perfect scenario that pharmaceutical companies bank on each year.

With approximately 398 side effects per drug, the toll on health is already beginning to be felt as metabolic diseases are on the rise. Diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases are already making an impact. Diabetes, which is closely linked to antibiotic use, toxins, and fungal candida is on the rise in China. The number of diabetics in China is already 4 times greater than those in the United States and expected to continue to increase even further over the next 20 years. Obesity and severe obesity are also rising rapidly. Cardiovascular disease increases when ever diabetes and obesity increase and this is currently happening with Chinese citizens.

Antibiotic use of any kind creates imbalances with the intestinal flora and body that drives over 100 known diseases and conditions. A recent finding demonstrated that the increase in fungal candida is so immense that airborne candida from China is now linked to causing disease in Japan, a country hundreds of miles away. Given the vast amount of research linking antibiotic use to the creation of fungal candida, it is becoming increasingly well-known that antibiotics cause more harm than good.

The emergence of antibiotic resistance is a global health problem and currently listed as the #3 threat to human health on the planet. Antibiotic-resistance is rapidly rising in China where “using antibiotics is now ineffective in as many as 70 per cent of patients” with common bladder and urinary tract infections.

The widespread use of antibiotics with livestock is creating superbugs that affect the entire planet. In agriculture, China is already using more than 8x the amount of antibiotics than the United States. China may very well become the number one source of disease for people around the globe.

As bad as the situation is now in China, it will only get worse. Prescription rates are climbing. Millions and millions of Chinese will suffer as a result of policies like those of GlaxoSmithKline and other pharmaceutical powerhouses. China’s current health policy is money before health. Chinese hospitals rely on drug sales as their number one source of profit. How can the best health interests of its citizens be served with such policies? China is selling away the health of its citizens, just as the United States and other nations have done.

Many of these issues can easily be addressed, but the solutions will come from the bottom up, not the top down. Chinese citizens will have to take healthcare into their own hands, or suffer the callous cruelty of the pharma/medical/agricultural/industrial complex.

The overwhelming levels of pollution in China are already taking their toll. Without healthy bacterial flora to protect them, the Chinese will soon face a greater crisis with the health of its citizens. There is a way, but it won’t be the conventional one that most people choose. It will be an alternative choice, a holistic choice.
