Your body feels spent and exhausted, not unlike an overdrawn checking account. Your body is begging you to rest and replenish it, but instead you get what you think is instant energy.  You drink coffee, caffeinated tea, eat sugar or candy, or consume a soft drink (whatever your chosen form of “speed” is).

Where is the energy you feel when you consume stimulants really coming from?  If you are like most people, you think the energy is being provided from the stimulant you just consumed.  It’s not.  Your vital glands have reserves enough to last your lifetime, and stimulants such as coffee, caffeinated tea and colas, chocolate, sugar, drugs, even some spices trigger your glands to EXCRETE their reserves.  You get nothing from them, but are actually experiencing the pilfering of your own vital reserves, spending them in a big flash.  Of course, later in life, you will discover your coffer empty and depleted…just when you need the reserves the most.

What if someone gave you money, but had actually robbed your savings account to get the money they gave you?  Even though you have immediate funds at your disposal do you really have more money? This is what stimulants do to your  gland’s savings account.

Adrenal exhaustion is caused by stress but not just stress from our over complicated lives IE traffic jams and unpaid bills. Have you ever considered that you are creating even more stress in your life by stressing your own body with substances that irritate and whip it when it is tired? We all know that “whipping a dead (tired) horse” is not sustainable and in the end we shorten the life of the animal. In this case, it is the animal we need to ride on everyday for the rest of our lives: our own body.

Your glandular system is what runs your body and is second in command to your  brain.  This system of glands has reserves designed to carry you through to a ripe old age.  The health and vitality of your glands also determines your ability to derive real energy from real sources. When you deplete them, you are setting yourself up for failure of all systems.

The real way to get energy

There are ways of getting instant energy other than pilfering your  energy savings account or agitating your nervous system for which you will pay dearly later. Some of these include deep breathing exercises, water therapy, juices and live foods. (There are powerful  spiritual ways as well but I will not be covering that topic here).

There are forms of true nourishment that actually do give you instant energy instead of robbing your “reserve account.”  Fresh squeezed juices are full of life and take almost no energy to digest. They are absorbed quickly by the body and you can feel revitalized within minutes almost like a blood transfusion. (See Gerson Cancer Therapy for more about the replenishing power of juicing). It is time consuming to prepare your own juice but that is no excuse now since most can find a Jamba Juice, Whole Foods or local health food store that have on demand fresh squeezed organic juices available. If you think these juices are too expensive, just think about how much you were willing to spend for a special coffee at Starbucks. How about what you have spent for an expensive bottle of wine to poison yourself? IE true definition of intoxication is to self poison. Habits are grooves carved in our brains, but we can cut a new groove with repetition. The same way we formed the habit to “whip our horse” we can create a craving and habit to nourish our cells.

Fresh live whole foods also give you a burst of real energy, over and above what is expended to digest them. What really benefits your body is the life force found within the food derived from the plant’s stored sun energy.  Since our bodies are not, at our present level of evolution, capable of absorbing enough sun energy directly, we get the sun’s energy stored in fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans and grains.  Fresh fruit and vegetables are like second-hand sun energy. Fresh picked from your own garden or someone’s garden is the best since the stored sun energy begins to dissipate the moment the food is picked

Meat, on the other hand, only has residual third-hand sun energy.  It takes a lot of effort to derive very little sun energy stored in animal flesh. This is why most people do not eat the flesh of animals that eat other animals since there is insignificant stored sun energy available at this end of the spectrum.

Because our bodies are made up of such a large percentage of water, the higher the content of water in the food, as in juicy foods, the easier it is for the body to absorb nourishment from it. The body must liquefy and break down all foods to absorb the nutrition from them. This is why chewing is so important and why some foods are easier to digest than others. Many foods take more energy to digest than you get from them. It is obviously not economical for your body to be just a food factory with only energy spent and no benefit.

Stimulants also excite and or agitate the nerves which can have a draining affect on the body when they wear off. Our nervous system is, among other things, a warning system created to notify us of impending danger. Our body was created to stay in a peaceful stance the rest of the time. We are not made to withstand constant excitation and agitation of the nerves caused by stimulants or stress.

There is a real difference between what nourishes and what stimulates or  excites and agitates. When something is stimulating, exciting, or agitating these very words reveal that it only activates something else and gives no substance of its own. See the definition of these words below:

We can grow our own bodies as if we are growing a prize flower if we have the intention. This intention will go a long way to head us in the right direction.

 The Air we breathe

The number one nutrient that we all need is oxygen. Most people do not ever consider this a nutrient and are therefore missing a big piece of the health puzzle. Oxygen is vital to our cells and lack of oxygen is even linked to cancer which thrives in an oxygen starved environment.

Scientists are now telling us that there’s a lack of oxygen in our atmosphere.

80-90% of your energy comes from the air you breathe, not the food you eat or liquid you drink.  You breathe every minute.  That adds up to about 2,500 gallons of air you consume each day. Obviously this is well beyond other things you consume so it has the biggest impact. Lack of oxygen can cause hidden hunger which can translate to food cravings that will never be satisfied.

Learning to consciously take in air (by practicing breathing exercises) to nourish your body is a good step toward increasing your energy level.  Breathing exercises also greatly contribute to detoxification. Of course air quality is just as important as the water quality you bathe in and drink or the purity of the food you eat. Breathing exercises are also very healing and strengthening to the nervous system. Yogis have developed many breathing exercises that can be a benefit if practiced correctly.

What you breathe out every minute, all day long is carbon. Obviously your body does not want to take in any of this in the form of carbonated drinks. (Hard to believe but yes, it is carbon dioxide gas forced into the liquid).   I once took a picture of a sign on a CO2 tank in front of a soda pop company that read  “warning: poison/asphyxiate.”  Of course shortly after they saw me taking the picture, a concrete wall was constructed to hide the sign from the public. Drinking carbon dioxide is just as suspect as drinking your own urine. It is obvious the body has done everything in its power to eliminate these waste products. The yogis created many forms of purification just to remove carbon from the blood as a prerequisite to attaining higher states of consciousness.

Water

Water is the basis of life in our body and life on this planet. We are all concerned about polluting the streams in our environment but what about our own stream? Our blood stream. Our own body is our closest eco-system put in our direct control. The laws that govern the rest of nature govern our own eco-system as well. What disturbs the rest of nature also disturbs our nature. Polluting our own stream is no different than dumping toxic waste into a stream in the woods. The only difference is that it is inside of us. The same laws of nature apply. The purity of the stream in nature affects everything the water touches along its banks. The purity of our blood stream either nourishes or degrades every cell it touches. Everything the body does is to protect the purity of our blood stream since this is vital to all our cells, organs and even our brain. The quality of our water is second most critical to our health right after air. Water that is alive is far different than water that is dead. In the book Messages from Water the author/scientist proved that water is not only alive but reacts and responds to outside influences. The water crystal formations were deteriorated or improved by words, music, images and even prayer. Since we are made up of mostly water this begs consideration as to what music we listen to and what words or images we watch or wear on our clothes. What about tattoos on our body? Since water can harm or heal we need to become aware of the water in our life. Cold running water can invigorate and heal an injury much better than ice since in liquid form it is more communicative. Try a switch to cold rinse after your  hot morning shower and just see if you do not feel as awake as a double latte. The difference is, the water is giving you life and the latte is taking it.
