That bottle in your medicine cabinet can be used in a variety of different ways, and if you do not own a bottle, now is the time to get one!

Other Ways to Use Tea Tree Oil

1) Air Freshener: Simply add a few drops of pure tea tree oil to your diffuser to get rid of any ‘bad’ smells in your home.  No diffuser?  Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a pot of water and bring to a simmer; turn off the water and allow the scent to permeate the your home.

2) Allergies: To treat allergies naturally you can massage diluted tea tree oil right onto your chest, abdomen or the reflex points of the feet. Dilute the tea tree oil by half with water.  If your head if congested, you can simply inhale from the bottle of tea tree oil and feel your head open up.

3) Asthma: If your congestion is from asthma, add a few drops of oil to a pot of water and heat until boiling.  Once the water has boiled, remove from the stove and drape a towel over your head.  Lean over the pot and breathe in for a few minutes. This will open up your head, relieve congestion and give you a nice steam facial!

4) Fungus: Tea tree oil will get rid of toenail fungus and athlete’s foot.  Clean the area thoroughly and then apply a light coating of tea tree oil to the affected area.  Do this 2-3 times a day.  It may take several weeks for the fungus to go away.  Even if the ailment appears to be gone, it is important to continue treatment for up to two weeks after signs of the infection have disappeared to make sure the fungus is eradicated.

5) Burns: Before applying the tea tree oil, rinse the affected area with icy cold water.  Wait a few minutes and then apply a mixture of five drops oil and one teaspoon of raw honey.  Repeat three times a day.

6) Freshening Carpets:  Adding tea tree oil to your vacuum cleaner bag will add a great scent to your room as you clean. You can also drop the oil directly into your carpet or rug as right before you vacuum, but this is not recommended for light colored rugs, as it could stain.

7) Chicken Pox:  If you, or your children, are suffering from itchy chicken pox you can apply a drop of tea tree oil right onto their blisters. Allow the oil to dry and then gently dust with corn starch. This will stop the itch.  Repeat every four hours or until the blisters heal completely.

8) Bug Bites: If you have chigger, flea, or mosquito bites, you can apply a drop of oil right onto the bites (just like with the chicken pox).

9)  Dandruff: For dandruff, add about 10 drops of tea tree oil right to the full bottle of shampoo.  Shake.  Each time you shampoo, allow it to sit on your scalp for about five minutes before rinsing.

10) Ingrown Hairs: Put a drop or two of tea tree oil right onto each ingrown hair.  Repeat daily until the infection goes away.
