The ever-popular B Vitamins.  Without a doubt, they’re beneficial, especially for symptoms of fatigue.  Probably, you could ask any elderly person and they’ll tell you a nice, big shot of B vitamins is exactly what the doctor ordered.  Heck, even medicare pays for a vitamin B shot.

So when was the last time you thought about the B vitamins?  Ever wonder why you have those cracks at the corners of your mouth?  Even more, have you wanted natural relief from depression?  Or, wondered how to alleviate Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

  1. Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin)–Riboflavin helps create blood cells.  (And who doesn’t need that?)  Ever noticed how some people lose their upper lip when they hit middle age?  That’s probably because they need more B-2.  Symptoms of deficiencies are cracks at the corners of your mouth and on the lips, weakness, sore throat, and a swollen tongue.
  2. Vitamin B-3 (Niacin)–Niacin helps you to chill out, dude! And if you’re feeling a little depressed, have some B-3.  Also, cigarette smokers curb cravings with Niacin supplementation.  Symptoms of deficiency are indigestion, fatigue, canker sores, depression, moodiness, and a low threshold for everyday stress.
  3. Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic Acid)–The body uses Pantothenic Acid for almost everything it does. For example, your brain thinking, heart pumping, and lungs breathing are all helped by B-5.  In addition, not only does it help you chill out when you’re stressed, but it also helps you look 20 when you’re actually 50.  (Maybe that’s an exaggeration on my part.  But it does help you age a little more gracefully.)  Still, a deficiency of B-5 is pretty bad, and can cause adrenal exhaustion, asthma attacks, insomnia, nausea, fatigue, irritability,  and vomiting.
  4. Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine)–Isn’t it cool how all the B vitamins help with depression in some way?  And B-6 is no different! For instance, feel a little more anxious than normal, or your PMS symptoms worsening?  It’s probably due to low levels of B-6.  (Incidentally, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is thought to be caused by a deficiency of B-6.)
  5. Vitamin B-12 (Cobalamin)–B-12 is the grandaddy of all B vitamins.  No doubt you need some more red blood cells, right? Sure, you do!  Who doesn’t!  So just take some B-12, why don’t you!    Other deficiencies of B-12 may cause a sore mouth, loss of mental energy, difficulty in concentration, and impotency in men (Yikes!)
