Yes America, Fukushima IS a BIG Deal

As more and more information is leaked from the Fukushima Disaster site, the long-term global consequences are impossible to ignore. And yes, America is already experiencing the effects of toxic radiation.

The future of the Fukushima disaster is written in the long since forgotten history of Chernobyl.  If governments continue to suppress the truth to minimize the damage, withhold vital information from international regulators and knowledgeable scientists, and persecute doctors trying to save children and their parents from the effects of deadly radiation—then the lessons learned and the lives lost will have been in vain.  Chernobyl survivors and their offspring suffered and continue to suffer (25 + years later) from a wide variety of illnesses due to the exposure to radioactivity in the air, the water and in the soil, which remains contaminated. The radioactive material in the wastewater from Fukushima that has already been discharged into the Pacific Ocean is the largest single amount in history. And it continues to leak daily.

The radiation discharged in the air and sea from these disasters is the toxic imposter of the element iodine, a critical trace mineral that your body needs but cannot make.  It is the function of the thyroid gland to take dietary or supplemental iodine and convert it into the thyroid hormones; triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Thyroid cells are the only cells in the body that can absorb the iodine necessary to make these hormones. Every cell in the human body depends upon thyroid hormone to some degree– for normalizing metabolism, for physical and mental development, for balanced mood, regulating healthy blood pressure, preventing adrenal fatigue, boosting immunity, and to maintain the health of our reproductive organs.

One test used to measure thyroid function is called the RAI Uptake test. This test measures how much radioactive iodine is “taken up” by the thyroid gland. Cells of the thyroid normally absorb iodine from our bloodstream (obtained from the foods we eat) and use it to make thyroid hormone, which is necessary for many critical bodily functions. The test is administered by giving a dose of radioactive iodine on an empty stomach. The iodine will be concentrated in the thyroid gland or excreted in the urine over the next few hours. The amount of iodine that is taken up by the thyroid gland is then measured to determine how well your thyroid functions.

Most of your iodine supply (70-80%) is located in your thyroid gland. However, there are iodine receptor sites located throughout your endocrine system and also in the breast, ovaries, and prostate. When these receptor sites are filled with dietary and supplemental iodine, your body becomes a shield from the lesser or toxic radioactive form of iodine from environmental toxic sources like the air and water contaminated from Fukushima.  You must have enough dietary or supplemental iodine filled receptor sites to shield your breast tissue ovaries, and prostate gland from radiation.

Iodine is a halogen like chlorine, fluorine, etc. and as such, can be absorbed through your skin. If you go out in the rain, and that rain carries radioactive iodine, it will be absorbed the minute it hits your skin and “taken up” by the thyroid. If you swim in ocean water contaminated by radioactive iodine the same thing occurs, just like if you swim in a pool filled with chlorinated water.  One theory to prevent this from happening is to proactively saturate yourself with iodine so you don’t absorb the radioactive kind. If your thyroid receptor sites are full of beneficial iodine from dietary sources and supplements, they won’t be able to absorb the harmful radioactive kind.

Supplemental iodine was very popular in the 1920’s & 30’s and was added to things like flour and salt to help correct deficiencies. But that is not the case anymore and in fact; iodine intake has declined 50% in North America in the past 30–40 years.

The consequences of this decline are dramatic as well. There have been epidemic increases in breast, thyroid, ovarian, prostate, and uterine cancers. The research relating iodine deficiency to breast cancer alone dates back over 100 years and is well documented and difficult to ignore. Even The World Health Organization cites iodine deficiency as “the most preventable cause of mental retardation.”  (From the book, “The Iodine Crisis” listed below). In addition, iodine was known to be effective against every pathogenic organism and listed in the Merck Manual as far back as 1899.

To see if you are iodine deficient you can try a simple self-test at home. You can buy red colored, tincture of iodine at most drugstores. Put a little of it on a cotton swab or cotton ball and paint a small circle on your inner thigh or arm. If the yellow-orange stain is absorbed quickly and disappears within 1-4 hours, you may be iodine deficient. If the stain remains for 4 or more hours, you most likely have adequate amounts of iodine. This is just a preliminary test. Work with your doctor and a qualified laboratory for the most accurate results.

We must proactively saturate our iodine receptors daily with high quality supplemental iodine to correct deficiencies, and we must minimize our exposure to external environmental radioactive sources that are competing for receptors. The sea vegetable “Kelp” is a natural bioavailable form of iodine that comes in many dietary and supplement forms. Chlorophyll is another excellent way to purify and neutralize toxins. There are many iodine supplements as well and if you want to learn more -you should work with a knowledgeable health care professional to find what is best for you.

Zeolites have been used for over 800 years to neutralize any neutron reactors from nuclear waste. All nuclear waste that has been buried in the earth is surrounded and contained by zeolite foam. Liquid zeolite is a powerful detoxifier used to rid the body of heavy metals and toxins. For more information about thyroid health you can go to my website or blogs:

Excellent article that points out how you can protect yourself against radioactive iodine-131. I personally would not use radioactive iodine for testing in my body, either. For related articles that discuss how to protect yourself from other radioactive fallout from Fukushima, such as Cesium-137, Strontium-90, and Tritium, see http://outoftheboxremedies.net/?s=fukushima

"Zeolites have been used for over 800 years" seems wrong: the term zeolite was originally coined in 1756, and nuclear reactors belong to 20th century.
    Maybe 80 years?
    Please verify.
    Best regards

Thanks Truman–had to go back to my research to check on that–you are correct! Thank you for picking up on that and for reading my article! Wishing you the best health!

Ok "Zeolite, in general, has been used for 800 years as a traditional remedy throughout Asia to promote overall health and well-being" but probably the sentence in your article should be modified, e.g. "Zeolites have been used for over 800 years to promote health and, in addition, are currently used to neutralize any neutron reactors from nuclear waste"

    Grandma S.,
Probably one of the most comprehensive sites I have come across that it keeping up with the events of Fukisima is http://enenews.com/.

I am in agreement with you, that this is a very worrying event with implications which could very well change life as we know it. What is truly frightening is that not only can they not stop what is currently happening, there is a very real chance that it will get worse.

What is sad is the massive amount of ignorance of this event. Any time that I try to broach the subject with friends of family it is always the same response of "Huh? What is Fukushima?", and thats that. They are not interested and remain in their sleep.

There are so many threats to humanity which are in play currently, I can not help but wonder, which event will be the proverbial "final snowflake" which causes the avalanche that bury's us all.

Although I can not be sure, nor really claim that I know anything, I do believe that soon the suffering of us as humans will be so horrid that there will be a massive awakening. We will finally stop dead in our tracks, look around at what IS, realizing just how ignorant we have been. You see. That is our disease. That is our sickness. That is our sin. It is our ignorance of who and what we really are. We think we know things. That is the comedy of it. The reality is that we know nothing and we have been fools.

But, enough of my philosophical musings. What I suppose may be true or prove to be false. It is irrelevant.
