Nutrition First
-Cutting down on your sodium intake, helps lower your blood pressure. Study and research your foods, because manufacturers don’t always tell you the truth for the ingredients on their labels. Try to always pick stuff to eat where you get less than 400 mg of sodium a day.
-Next, eat some foods with potassium in them, daily. They give you energy and they help balance your sodium intake. It’s well known that banana has a lot of this in it, and as well as
- papaya
- prune juice
- raisins
- mango
- kiwi
- orange
- pear
- diced honeydew melon
-Eat wholegrain and heart healthy foods, plus supplementing with Omega 3 acids will help assist in lowering your blood pressure. Ask your doctor about what supplements to add first.
-Some of the herbs that help lower your blood pressure are garlic, basil and cinnamon. Garlic relaxes your blood vessels causing them to dialate. This creates a relaxation that lowers your pressure.
-When you drink alcohol, cutting your drinks down to twice a week will also save your life and lower your blood pressure. Drinking some of it, has a lifesaving effect. This does not mean that if you didn’t drink alcohol before, that you rush into this to get to the lifesaving effect. If you do that with high blood pressure, your body goes into shock for the many years that it didn’t have alcohol before. This shock can send your blood pressure through the roof, causing a stroke or heart disease. In this case, you are better off not consuming alcohol.
-Eliminating refined sugars and creating a negative caloric balance, aids in losing weight that lowers your blood pressure. These are important. They are amongst your natural remedies for high blood pressure.
Stop Smoking
If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure and you are a smoker, that makes it worse. Please stop smoking. It can be hard at first, but you can still do it. Consult your doctor as needed. This is on the top of the list for smokers of natural remedies for high blood pressure.
Exercise
This is on the top of the list of natural remedies for high blood pressure. Being over weight creates stress on your body and your joints. This, in turn, causes your blood pressure to go up. If this is not taking care of properly, you can get heart disease or a stroke.
So it is very important to eat right and exercise every week. If you are just beginning to exercise, start off with three times a week for thirty minutes. Do this until your joints and your muscles get used to this. Then increase it. You want to work up to doing sixty minutes of exercise at least five times a week.
Exercise will help you tone your muscle, burn fat and relieve stress. You should include low or high impact cardio workouts at least three times a week. They help lower your LDL, the bad cholesterol too. This, in turn, lowers your blood pressure.
Rest
Make sure that you get enough sleep. When you are sleeping and resting for your eight hours or so, your blood pressure is going down. After around four hours of sleep, your body enters into it’s REM sleep where it sends out growth hormones to heal you.
This all comes down to exercise, nutrition and rest along with you working with your doctor. Keep yourself healthy by lowering your blood pressure. Be happy and be there for your loved ones.
