Looking to save money and produce safer vegetables and fruits for your family? Making your own natural pesticides is both cheap and easy, and these types of pesticides can be just as effective as the ones you purchase at the store.
Organic
Making your own pesticides are a great idea, especially for those who prefer to grow, and eat, organically. When you buy commercial pesticides, and use them on your garden, you immediately make that crop a ‘commercial’ crop rather than an ‘organic’ one. An organic crop can have pesticides, but they must not contain chemicals. So, you can make your own natural pesticides and apply those and keep your garden organic.
Pets and Children
When you make your own pesticides, they are safer for not just your garden, but the environment, your family, and your pets. The ingredients in homemade pesticides are ones that you know, you can pronounce, and ones that you can use other places.
Tips for preparing your pesticides:
1) To really make sure your plants beat any type of insect infestation, you must treat them at the first sign.
2) First test the solution by spraying it onto a small part of the plant. Wait several hours to make sure there is no damage. If there is no wilting, drying, or browning, treat the entire plant.
3) Treat both the tops and bottoms of the plants’ leaves.
4) Spray every other day; do not overdo it.
